I’ve reviewed one other pair of 580s on this channel. It’s not my favorite NB model, but colorways like the New Balance 580 Neon Pack keep me checking.
I feel like 580s get slept on here in the United States, but apparently they are very popular overseas in countries like Japan.
These came out in a pack with 2 other pairs of brightly colored 580s. Normally I wouldn’t necessarily go for a pair like this, but sometimes a wacky shoe colorway just catches my eye. Shoes like this are good for when you are wearing an otherwise plain outfit. Attempting to heavily match a shoe like this might make me look like an oversized Nerf gun! I generally stick with a black or grey based outfit when trying to sport a shoe with a crazy color scheme.
How Are The Materials?
The materials are really nice on these! First off, NB went HAM on the 3M. It’s on the logo and tucked away in between the panels of the shoe as well as near the toebox. Then, there’s the surprisingly buttery suede around the toe and a sort of rubbery vinyl on the back and on the side panel. Very interesting combination of textiles! The mesh on the toebox looks to have an underlay to it which apparently keeps feet reasonably dry in wet weather.
How Do They Fit?
The New Balance 580 Neon Pack fits true to size and is very comfortable. I actually was able to go down a half size and they still fit great! The shoe is fairly lightweight the support is definitely there. NB 580s tend to be a little clunky looking around the toebox, but I found I only had to do one round of reshaping to get them looking smooth.
